Euromaydan nominated for the Sakharov Prize

Ukrainian Euromaydan is among the nominees for the Sakharov Prize. The prize is awarded to exceptional individuals and organizations for outstanding achievements in the protection of human rights and freedoms. 

 

The wave of demonstrations and civil disobedience that began on the night of November 21, 2013 in Kiev fully meet the criteria for honorary prize winner. 

On October 7 th, the Commission will select three finalists and the solemn ceremony of the awards will be held on November 26th. Furthermore Euromaydan among the nominees are also: Mahmoud Al "Asali, Louis Raphael Sako, Mouad Belghouate, Ala Yaacoubi and Alaa Abdel Fattah, CHREDO, Open doors, etc.. A part of the holders of this prestigious Sakharov prize are Nelson Mandela, Reporters Without Borders, Kofi Annan and the UN.
